The Jefferson County Deputy Sheriff's Reserves is a volunteer organization that looks for members to assist the Sheriff's department with various activities in Jefferson County and surrounding jurisdictions as requested. We support and assist the regular deputies with various calls throughout the county, including traffic control at accidents and events, vehicle/house searches, serving court papers, processing arrests, finger printing and transporting detainees to/from the Magistrate’s Court and the eastern Regional Jail.
The Sheriff's Reserve provides security for a variety of functions and events such as the Heritage Mountain Arts and Crafts show, teen night events at the County Recreation Center, the Jefferson County Fair, parades and other events as requested. The Reserves provide assistance to other law enforcement agencies in Jefferson County and surrounding counties.
Application for membership shall be open to any US Citizen over the age of 18, with a clean background, and whose residency is in West Virginia. Membership shall be granted upon an interview and majority vote of the Executive board followed by ratification of the Supervising Deputy, Sheriff and County Commissioners.
